Each year during the month of November through the first week in December, we ask our KAD families to donate a pair of mittens or gloves to decorate our “Mitten Tree”, located in our lobby. In early December, all of the mittens are donated to the Somerset County United Way “Wrapped In Love” program to be given to needy families during the holidays.
The KAD has been doing this since 2002, and Miss Kathleen continues to reach out to dance studios throughout the county asking them to do the same thing in their area. Each year more and more dance studios throughout the US have begun to join in this effort at their locations. It is a small thing to ask people to give, yet as the effort grows in numbers many families in need can be helped. Families are asked to donate a pair of mittens (or gloves) for a boy, girl or adult to hang on a tree at the dance studio. This is a fun project for all ages to participate in during the holiday season. It provides an opportunity to “give” to someone less fortunate.
We open this up to anyone in the community who would like to contribute. Help us make our numbers grow! By working together, we can help make a difference in the lives of others.
